Increased surveillance in the area, greater coordination between the agencies responsible for ensuring safety, and dedicated ARST buses connecting the reception center and Cagliari "to allow people to reach the capital without crossing the town and reduce traffic through the municipal area."
These are the requests made by the Municipality of Monastir during a meeting at the Prefecture convened to review the emergency related to the CAS and adopt countermeasures to ensure greater peace of mind for those living in the town in the province of Cagliari.
"The safety and tranquility of our citizens are always our priority," Mayor Paola Ugas explained. "We have asked for continued high levels of attention to the most sensitive situations, with constant monitoring and effective coordination between the Prefecture, law enforcement, and the municipal administration." The Municipality has also requested "support in managing urban cleanliness, with particular attention to the areas of the town most affected by the reported critical issues, including through increased local police staffing. Monastir deserves responses and interventions appropriate to the current situation."
Councilor Maria Franca Murgia explained the purpose of activating ARST routes dedicated, essentially, to connections between CAS and the capital in a post: " It's not a matter of passenger 'comfort', but a much deeper logistical need: to optimize local public transport and reduce the inconvenience caused by overcrowding in our city center, for the protection of the entire Monas Tir community. Our priority is to ensure an efficient and peaceful service for workers, residents, and, above all, the many young students who use public transport every day to reach school. All passengers have the right to use the stops and to travel in conditions of complete safety, decorum, and tranquility," she emphasized, carefully weighing her words, "avoiding the structural problems caused by a demand for transport exceeding the actual capacity of the scheduled vehicles. This is why we believe it is essential to establish special direct routes connecting external reception centers directly with Cagliari." Organizing and differentiating passenger flow management at the source, outside the urban perimeter, is the only solution to guarantee safety, efficiency, and dignity of travel for the benefit of the entire community.
