Maria Giulia, birth weight: 2,680 kg. Born in Cagliari, at approximately 7:30 a.m. Where? At the Nautilus, a seaside hotel in Cagliari's Poetto beach . A happy event, but unexpected. At least in terms of timing. The due date was expected around December 6th. For this reason, mother Nathalia Fereira, 21, Brazilian, and father Pablo Cardoso, 23, thought they had some time before moving into the house they had identified in Senorbì, where they intended to move. He works in online marketing, she (for now) was caring for another child while waiting for the new little girl. In the future, who knows?

For both of them, Cagliari was just the first stop in the life they decided to spend in Sardinia: having fallen in love with the island during a holiday, they chose it for its pace and beauty, the ideal place – according to the two young people – to raise their children.

Maria Giulia, it seems, was in a hurry to breathe in the sea air. And she caught everyone off guard. Her water broke in the hotel where Nathalia, with her advanced pregnancy, was also able to relax in the hot tub.

The call to 118 was immediate. Emergency responders arrived at Poetto at first light, aboard a specially equipped ambulance. The baby, according to the Areus operations center, had already been born: the umbilical cord was still attached. The doctor, assisted by the team, operated quickly, ensuring the safety of the mother and newborn.

Once her adrenaline returned to near-normal levels, she was transferred to the hospital, the Policlinico di Monserrato, where she was already being treated. Here, the placenta was delivered, and the safe embrace of her family finally arrived.

Upon arrival at the Polyclinic, the girl was assisted by midwife Claudia Meloni and gynecologist Kostantinos Martsidi.
