The Sardinia Region has submitted a request to the Ministry of Transport to revoke the new maritime continuity tenders: "We believe they are severely limited compared to the transport needs of our Region" , announced Transport Councillor Barbara Manca .

The member of the Regional Council also reported that Sardinia, together with Corsica, has asked the Italian and French governments for a five-year derogation from the application of the ETS directive , "by virtue of their common status of insularity".

Manca made the double announcement during a meeting with delegations from Confindustria Sardegna, led by provincial presidents Antonello Argiolas and Pierpaolo Milia, and Confapi Sardegna, led by vice president Gianfranco Lecca.

On continuity: "The new tenders launching in July are merely a rehash of previous ones, despite the fact that for two years we have been asking for an open discussion to expand the offering, including the proposal for maritime territorial continuity dedicated to freight ," the councilor explained, denouncing the government's "lack of commitment," with the "progressive easing of public service obligations, now reduced to the bare minimum."

The Region has requested that "the ongoing tender procedures and expressions of interest be suspended with immediate effect" and that a new continuity model be defined, involving the Region, with new tender procedures "tailored to the real needs of the community, passengers, and freight."
