Safe Ferragosto in the Cagliari area: Operation " Security Doesn't Go on Holiday " is underway. Carabinieri officers have been patrolling the streets of the city and surrounding province for hours. Checks are currently underway, and the presence of officers is significant. Over 200 people and around 100 cars have already been checked overnight and into the morning.

In Carloforte and Sant'Antioco , the Carabinieri have released two men, a 48-year-old and a 70-year-old, both from neighboring towns, who are believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol. During two checkpoints, they were subjected to breathalyzer tests and tested positive for blood alcohol levels above the legal limit. Following the test, the officers confiscated their licenses and seized the vehicles they were driving (a motorcycle and a car). The two men will be reported to the appropriate administrative and judicial authorities.

A similar case occurred in Villacidro , where a 50-year-old man, already known to the police, was reported for driving under the influence of alcohol. In Serramanna, the Carabinieri stopped a local youth and found him in possession of 10 grams of marijuana (the drug was seized). The young man will be reported as a user.

This morning, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri of Cagliari, Brigadier General Luigi Grasso , met with personnel engaged in the extraordinary services organized for the August bank holiday. During the operational briefing, the general outlined the strategic priorities, highlighting the need for a vigilant and reassuring presence throughout the province, particularly focused on preventing predatory crimes and protecting road traffic.

The operation is part of a broader prevention plan agreed upon with the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, which sees the Carabinieri active along the coast, in meeting places, residential areas, rural areas, and at sea, with the support of special units, naval vessels, and air cover.
