Mario Pingerna is the new president of the Sassari municipal council. Elected yesterday, in the first session in the council chamber after the victory of Campo Largo in the June consultations, at the end of three votes in which he received 23 preferences while the blank ballots were 12.

«I will be impartial - he declared once he took office - and I will guarantee maximum transparency. Citizens need to know how the money is spent in this institution." Pingerna then focused on the intention of bringing together a youth municipal council and bringing people, a good number of whom are now disaffected, closer to politics.

Yesterday, after being sworn in as mayor, Giuseppe Mascia also wanted to deliver a first speech from the most representative seat of Palazzo Ducale. «The time for responsibility has come - these are his first words - The city wants change». «Our generation - he continued - must think of a new development model. I fear a city that works in an isolated way because, in this way, Sassari will continue the downward slope undertaken some time ago." For this reason the mayor calls for "a correlation between the parties, both in the council chamber and with the ruling class and citizens". «The work is arduous and I expect the utmost commitment and respect from you - he concluded, addressing the 35 councillors. Now it's our turn."

During the session, which was attended by a large audience, the vice-presidents of the president of the city council and the members of the electoral commission were also elected.
