Road 81 “Litoranea - SS 200 - Marina di Sorso - Platamona” has been reopened to traffic, in the section affected by the reconstruction works of the bridge over the Rio Pedrugnanu. The ribbon cutting this morning, after two years of waiting due to a series of complications, slowdowns due to the pandemic and unexpected events of a hydrogeological nature which have lengthened the timescale for returning the road stretch which, especially in the summer period, saw an exponential increase in traffic traffic density on the coast road.

The total cost of the work of art is three million and 200 thousand euros, a fifty meter long bridge with two twenty-five meter spans which has passed the load tests and was built to support a water level higher than that which it caused in the 2014 the collapse of the pre-existing structure, causing the consequent interruption of the road.

The road sector of the Province of Sassari immediately intervened with a provisional work, made the road safe with a monitoring system with bars and cameras that informed about the water alert status and created a parallel road that bypassed the construction site in order to avoid the closure of the road itself, necessary for safety reasons, with all the consequences of the case which could have frozen traffic, and created countless inconveniences for those who travel that road every day and for the tourist economy in the period summer.

The definitive work which today replaces the provisional one, finally closes a period of traffic lights, roads and alternating directions and inconvenience for road users, fortunately limited also thanks to the work of the technicians who tried to reduce the waiting times for the reopening definitive. The administrator Pietro Fois is satisfied: «Despite the unforeseen events that the Province could not foresee, we are here to return to road users a very important work that connects the municipalities of Porto Torres, Sassari and Sorso and which in the summer period conveys the flow tourism in seaside resorts. We found the necessary resources with many difficulties, but the result is what counts and today we will try to leave behind all the inconveniences that have put the citizens' patience to the test."
