"We hope he's still alive." These are the words of Antoio Durzu and Antonella Contu, parents of Paolo Durzu, the 33-year-old from Quartu missing since Tuesday evening together with his girlfriend Manola Mascia, the 28-year-old from Cagliari found dead yesterday late morning in Cala Fighera.
"What do we think? That they fell during a walk. Even though we hope that our son is still alive somewhere," say Antonio Durzu and Antonella Contu, Paolo's parents.
This morning the Coast Guard and Fire Brigade resumed their search for Paolo Durzu, with the Coast Guard's helicopter also in flight.
The Flying Squad's investigations will have to establish what happened to the young woman and whether her boyfriend was really with her.
Among the rocks, after yesterday's discovery of a backpack and a purse of the young man, completely wet, today the strap of another glove compartment and a black coat were found, which could belong to Manola. The news has caused tension among the families of the two boys.
The two were no longer reachable since Tuesday: they were going out to eat together for lunch. Then from the evening they were no longer reachable even by phone. Hence the first alarm given by the young woman's mother.
"They had been engaged for almost two years but friends for much longer. A really beautiful couple," say his parents as they observe the search operations for their son from Calamosca, complicated by the strong sirocco wind and the very rough sea.
