A 40-year-old man was reported by the Carabinieri of the Tempio Mobile Radio Unit for an incident that occurred a few weeks ago in the Gallura town. According to the officers' report to the Public Prosecutor's Office, a woman crossing the street near a roundabout in the town center was struck by a driver who failed to provide assistance and fled the scene of the accident.

The victim remained on the side of the road for a few minutes and was then helped by a passerby. The consequences of the accident were severe; the woman, who already had serious spinal problems, suffered fractures and particularly severe trauma, with injuries believed to be permanent .

The Carabinieri tracked down the alleged perpetrator thanks to video surveillance footage . The footage allowed them to identify the car, and the driver was subsequently reported to the prosecutors. He is now also under investigation for failure to provide assistance. The investigation is not concluded, and the man's responsibility remains to be proven.
