"In the Monte Muradu kennel, the rules for animal welfare are respected. It is therefore not an overcrowded concentration camp" . This is what the technicians of the Municipality of Macomer and the Local Police found, following a complaint signed by the deputy of the 5 Star Movement Susanna Cherchi and some local activists , who described the Monte Muradu structure, "Mondo Cane", as being in the grip of a "situation out of control".

The outcome of the inspection by the technical office and the local police revealed that the dogs hosted in the facility enjoy a general state of well-being.

"The Municipality - it is written in a press release - has always verified the correct management of the kennel service and, in recent months, has implemented several initiatives to improve its efficiency."

On April 28, the situation was brought to the attention of the City Council, which unanimously approved the regulation for the adoption of stray dogs hosted in special care and shelter facilities , in affiliated facilities or in municipal facilities and for the payment of economic incentives to adopting citizens.

A tool that will allow, among other things, to support, with an economic incentive guaranteed by the Municipality, the adoption of animals hosted inside the Monte Muradu Kennel. Specifically, the Regulation recognizes a financial contribution to citizens who adopt a stray dog, kept in shelters and others.

"A non-trivial economic aid - underlines the environmental councilor, Toto Listo - that recognizes the effort of the private sector in taking on a piece of the problem that falls on the entire community and that represents, for those who adopt, a form of relief for the reimbursement of medical-veterinary and food expenses, dog training, health insurance policies supported and adequately demonstrated and accounted for".
