The stop to trains has arrived: from today and for four months the Macomer-Chiliv a ni railway is closed , forty kilometers of tracks set aside to align the Ertms, not a digital lock pick to measure speed (as would be needed in Sardinia) , but a new security technology.

In fact: once the work is completed, the travel times on the Sardinian via ferrata will not change one iota.

With the construction site open, however, nightmare journeys for passengers are predicted: journeys on replacement buses have longer arrival times compared to trains. The extreme case is the Cagliari-Olbia: in its longest race, it will go from four hours and 10 minutes to 5 hours and 49 minutes .

Meanwhile, the Service Contract on rail transport results in millions of costs borne by the Sardinians.
