Macomer, a room for women victims of violence has been inaugurated.

Marghine is not immune to gender-based violence. To address this phenomenon, this area now also has a safe space, a welcoming refuge for victims. Called "The Room for You," it was created with the support of the Nuoro chapter of Soroptimist Italia, within the Carabinieri barracks. This space is designed to welcome victims of gender-based violence and minors who decide to seek help from the Carabinieri. It complements the existing shelter at the Nuoro Provincial Command headquarters, also created in collaboration with Soroptimist, and renews a decade-long partnership between the Carabinieri and Soroptimist. The inauguration was attended by the province's highest military and civilian authorities, as well as by the Prefect of Nuoro, Alessandra Nigro, representatives of the Local Health Authority (ASL), and local social workers. Franco Scanu, President of the Union of Municipalities of Marghine, also attended the event. Colonel Gennaro Scossese explains: "The Chamber of One's Own is a new tool available not only to law enforcement but, above all, to citizens to build a trench, to stem and defeat the phenomenon." Prefect Alessandra Nigro adds: "It's a commendable initiative. This room is a commitment for those who work there, a promise to the victims, but above all, it is a sign of the State's presence in this area. Beyond moral rigor and commitment, there is a big heart in the Carabinieri's way of working. And then there is a great desire to create community." The president of Soroptimist Nuoro, Giovanna Inoria Anna Pittorra, adds: "The one in Macomer is also a room furnished informally to make the victim and any children there feel at ease. There are many people who support this initiative." That room now becomes a point of reference for the entire territory, which will also operate with the collaboration of the Anti-Violence Center, established by the Union of Municipalities, as well as having the collaboration of the schools, with the presence of the Carabinieri which constitutes an important guarantee.
