This is the request sent by Coldiretti Sardegna to the Ministry of Health after the confirmation of the first case of Contagious Nodular Dermatitis on the Island, which led to restrictions in several municipalities of Nuoro.

For Coldiretti Sardegna, the "urgent creation of a national crisis unit that intervenes with clear and timely measures to contain the contagion" is essential.

«It is not just a Sardinian issue – explain the president Battista Cualbu and the director Luca Saba – but a national challenge: Sardinia is an entry and exit point for many commercial flows in the livestock sector and must be protected with the utmost commitment».

Furthermore, Coldiretti Sardegna says it is necessary to "act quickly to delimit the affected area and intervene with extraordinary measures that prevent any possible spread of the virus".

"The disease must be isolated now - Cualbu and Saba emphasize - coordinated technical, scientific and organizational interventions are needed: a task force that operates on the territory to secure the outbreak area and protect the surrounding territories - the leaders of Coldiretti emphasize - the experience of recent years with Psa, Blue Tongue and the plague of locusts has shown how rapid intervention can make the difference. We cannot afford to waste any more time: at least in this case let's move with a coordinated and timely intervention".

"The cattle sector cannot be left alone - conclude Cualbu and Saba - we cannot witness, once again, a late management of a health problem: we never miss anything, but at least we learn from the past . Those who work every day on farms - they explain - deserve to be supported, especially considering the additional difficulties that periodically arise, such as transport problems that at different times of the year make it more complicated to sell or move livestock. Only recently, thanks to pressure from our organization, have we returned to more stable management".
