In a statement, La Maddalena National Park rightly calls it "a disturbing episode" with potentially "tragic consequences." The focus is on director Giulio Plastina , who this morning, following a driving problem, took his car to a mechanic. "The mechanic was adamant," Plastina stated, "and confirmed to me that it wasn't a breakdown, but a manual intervention intended to cause an accident . I was clearly told that I could have lost my life or caused a massacre. My deepest thoughts go to my son, who uses that car more than I do: it's a miracle that the irreparable didn't happen."
The incident does not appear to be an isolated one. At the same time, a service vehicle with a broken window was found in the garden of the Park Authority headquarters. The timing and nature of the events, the Park Authority commented, leave little room for doubt: "This is a coordinated attack aimed at targeting the Director and the institution he represents."

Video surveillance footage has already been requested to identify those responsible. The president, the board of directors, and all Park Authority staff "express their fullest and unconditional solidarity with the Director."
