The delegations of Ajaccio, the Corsican capital twinned with La Maddalena, and of Bonifacio, headed by their respective mayors, were present for the patronal celebrations of Santa Maria Maddalena.

Before the religious ceremonies, Mayor Fabio Lai received his cross-border counterparts in the town hall, in the council hall, then illustrating the recently set up museum itinerary to them.

The Knights of San Bernardo had also arrived from Portovecchio (Corsica). This link between La Maddalena and Corsica has its roots in the fact that the first inhabitants of the archipelago were of Corsican origin, consolidated not only by the twinning with the capital but also by the usual exchange of institutional visits on the occasion of religious and civil holidays such as that of the Madonnuccia, in Ajaccio.

As for the Magdalene religious celebrations, they were celebrated in the presence of Bishop Tempio Ampurias, Monsignor Sebastiano Sanguinetti, in his capacity as apostolic administrator, his successor having already been nominated and taking office in September. The solemn Mass in honor of the patron saint is celebrated at night and in the open air, in the presence of numerous faithful, residents and tourists. At the end the procession took place, both by land and by sea, with a final fireworks display.
