He allegedly revealed confidential information on judicial police operations to an offender, in exchange for gifts: in foodstuffs such as cheese, ricotta, cured meats or meat. But not only. In addition to corruption, at least according to the charges brought by the public prosecutor Rita Cariello, the former commander of the Iglesias dei Carabinieri radio unit, the retired lieutenant Antonello Manca, 62, will also have to answer for disclosure of official secrecy, access abusive computer system, embezzlement for the alleged illegitimate use of the service car, fraud, forgery, breach of seals and for the unauthorized possession of an alt shovel without a serial number. Once the investigation was closed, the Prosecutor's Office also asked for the indictment of Salvatore Desogus and Francesco Pilia (40 and 42, also both from Iglesias).

The corruption

Judge Maria Cristina Ornano will decide whether a trial will be held, who has set the preliminary hearing for next May 16, inviting the three suspects to appear with the defense lawyers Riccardo Floris and Francesco Marongiu (Pilia). The heaviest accusation leveled against the former number one of Norm iglesiente - who has conducted numerous important investigations in his career - is that of corruption. In exchange for gifts, he would have revealed to Salvatore Desogus (at that time inmate but with the possibility of going out to work) information on investigations conducted by the Prosecutor's Office, but also contents of intercepted conversations, and which the interlocutor would then pass on to the interested parties. Not only. He would also have made an agreement with Desogus to carry out arrests in the act of crime and would have revealed other news between June 2018 and September 2019. On one occasion he would also have revealed to Francesco Pilia the identity of the perpetrators of a search, again in exchange for some forms of cheese.

The other crimes

Conducted by the Carabinieri of the Iglesias Company, the investigation closed against the former commander of the radio-mobile unit also sees the accusation of revelation of office secrets and unauthorized consultation of databases (allegedly given information on telephone numbers, vehicle owners and offenders) to numerous other subjects. Then there is the hypothesis of embezzlement: on a daily basis - according to the Prosecutor's Office - he would have used the service cars for private purposes, covering about 6 thousand kilometers between February and May 2019. The prosecutor Cariello also disputes the scam in Manca: he would have attested to be engaged in investigations, when instead he would have carried out private activities, thus causing damage to the administration of the weapon which would have paid him the salary for the hours he had declared to have worked. The investigation by the public prosecutor had been going on in great secrecy for months, with wiretapping and stalking, entrusted directly to the military colleagues now on leave, coordinated by the captain of the time Giovanni Di Nuzzo, commander of the Iglesias Company.
