Abbanoa's investment to redevelop the Siniscola water networks amounts to one and a half million euros.
Work on the first of two contracts has begun and is part of the package of interventions approved by the Board of Directors led by President Franco Piga, intended for various centers in Sardinia.
Siniscola's old water networks are recording significant losses. «The main causes - explains Abbanoa - can be traced back to the use in the past of materials that were not adequately resistant to the stresses that the pipes have to cope with on a daily basis. The old networks will therefore be eliminated and replaced by new ones made of ductile cast iron: a material that guarantees the best seal".
Next Friday, June 7, the first pipelines just completed in via Gennargentu and Monte Lattu will be connected. Between 9am and 4pm, during operations, there will be drops in pressure and temporary interruptions in the areas of Sant'Efisio, Cocorra and Sa Sedda.
With the first contract launched, worth over 700 thousand euros, a kilometer and a half of pipelines will be rebuilt which will concern, beyond via Gennargentu and via Monte Lattu, the via Cipro, Azuni, Caprera, Pola, Dante, Eleonora D'Arborea, Oberdan , Manzoni, Mannu, Piave, Sant'Antonio, Monfalcone, del Carmine, Cavour, Aretina and Monte Grappa. As complementary works, and therefore to be carried out subsequently, the Liguria, Carbonia, Toscana, Abruzzo and Gramsci streets are also involved.
As regards the second lot, of a further investment of almost 700 thousand euros, it is a contract that will involve the complete replacement of the pipelines of other roads. The awarding of the works is underway and the works should begin next month.
«Siniscola – recalls Abbanoa – is among the first thirty municipalities in Sardinia where the “Intelligent Grids” project is being carried out which aims to drastically reduce losses. The efficiency improvement of the water system is based on a study aimed at allowing the districting of the networks through the use of technologically advanced systems in controlling the correct functioning of the service with the aim of making it more efficient. The interventions to be carried out are also defined both through ordinary maintenance work and through specific investment channels such as the one relating to the current contract".
