In Sardinia it is no longer mandatory to present a medical certificate to return to class after five days of absence. And the constraint falls in almost all other cases in which it was foreseen.

The provision is contained in the Financial Statement, a law just published on Buras.

It is established that «for the purposes of administrative simplification in the field of public health and the effectiveness of health services in the regional territory, the presentation of the declaration from the attending physician regarding the nature of the disease and the suitability to attend required for school absence of more than five days" is foreseen only if "the declarations are required by prophylactic measures envisaged at international and national level for public health needs" and "the requesting parties are required to submit them in other regions". Outside of these cases, the obligation ceases.

The rule was approved by the Regional Council. The city councilors of Cagliari Camilla Soru (Pd) and Giulia Anderozzi (Possibile) consider it their victory: «In January, during our first sit in, we were received by the Health Councilor Carlo Doria. We asked that replacements for retired pediatricians be appointed and that the requirement for a medical certificate for returning to school after 5 days of absence be abolished. A measure that has also been requested by paediatricians' associations for some time", they say today. «This requirement congests clinics and often forces parents to keep perfectly healthy children at home while waiting for the reference pediatrician to visit them to issue the certificate. Furthermore, parents are often led to bring the return home early, even if the children have not recovered perfectly, so as not to risk having to request it."

9 months have passed, "but finally our proposal has become law and from today it is officially in force".
