Eight hundred children have been left without a pediatrician in Nuoro and their parents suffer severe hardships, both in terms of the right to treatment and certifications to be able to attend schools.

A delegation of mothers protested this morning in front of the management of the Assl, in via Demurtas, to claim the assignment of the third pediatrician of the city in the vacant office for over a month, after the non-renewal of the contract to the last professional who covered the assignment. "Since November 30, the day on which the contract with our pediatrician expired, we are without a doctor to take care of our children - explains the spokesperson of the protest - In addition to the intervention of the doctor to protect the health of the children, we need continually of certificates for returning to school after three days of absence due to illness. Those who can pay but it is not possible to continue in this situation ".

In Nuoro, currently, there are only two pediatricians who have already reached the maximum number of patients: so, if the mothers of the children discovered by the service were to choose a new one, they should contact professionals from neighboring countries.

"It is impracticable - clarifies the spokesperson - We urgently ask the Assl and the Regional Health Department to proceed quickly with the ban that will bring at least one other pediatrician to Nuoro, in order to permanently occupy the vacant site and ensure continuity assistance to our little ones ".

The letters via certified e-mail with the request have already been sent to all the institutions involved but so far, the mothers denounce, "have remained unanswered".
