The draft of the redevelopment project of the inter-municipal area located between via Porto Botte and via Sironi, near the Caracalla metro station stop in Monserrato , falling within the territories of the Municipalities of Cagliari and Monserrato, was presented this morning in the offices of the Metropolitan City of Cagliari.

Meeting attended by the metropolitan councilor delegated to traffic Antonello Floris , the councilor for mobility and traffic of the capital Alessio Mereu and the mayor of Monserrato Tomaso Locci .

The project involves the redevelopment of the area that is today in a state of neglect and the construction of a functional parking area that will include the inclusion of cycle and pedestrian paths, green areas and public lighting. The draft was submitted to the municipalities concerned for any comments and changes. The total cost amounts to 750 thousand euros, allocated by the metropolitan city with its own funds.

“The draft of the project is a first, important step that will make it possible to put an end to the state of decay in which the area currently stands and to guarantee the safety of all the citizens who visit it”, comments Floris. "When the Municipalities call - he explains - the Metropolitan City takes the field at the forefront as a large area body in the management of its supra-municipal competences for the resolution of problems concerning road areas and infrastructures of common interest".
"With this intervention we set ourselves the dual objective of redeveloping a degraded area and promoting more avant-garde and safe mobility for citizens who use the surface metro every day in their movements between Cagliari and the metropolitan area", underlines the 'councilor Mereu.
Satisfaction also from the mayor Locci: “A further step is added to the many redevelopment interventions already put in place by my administration in recent years. I thank the councilor Floris and the councilor Mereu for the important collaboration in resolving an issue that will finally put an end to twenty years of deterioration ”.
