«The date of June 2nd is symbolic, as we reclaim the day on which the Italian Republic is celebrated, which considers our land as an area from which to profit, using it as it pleases and renting it to various armies, to multinationals energy and to the richest people in the world." Thus A Foras, the movement that fights against the military occupation of Sardinia, which this morning at the Ichnusa Pier in Cagliari, in front of two warships, announced a demonstration for 2 June from Piazza San Bartolomeo al Poetto in Cagliari .

«66% of Italian military property is located on our island, but the rest of Sardinia is also used by the military: in Teulada, Quirra and Capo Frasca there are the largest firing ranges in Europe, but the military occupation also persists on other towns and cities, increasing more and more every day, without stopping, as we see for example in the confiscated land and in the coastal areas banned militarily, to make the construction of the Tyrrhenian link possible or in the famous CPRs, monitored on sight by the army".

For the organizers - A Foras and the Amicizia Sardegna Palestina association - this year June 2nd takes on an even stronger meaning, due to the war that is raging in every corner of the world and in particular in Gaza. «See you on June 2nd in Cagliari to demonstrate that the Sardinian people are not complicit, and want to live in a Sardinia free from military occupation, in solidarity with the Palestinian people and with all peoples for a peaceful Mediterranean».
