A sports fisherman intent on illegally catching sea urchins and morsels of sea was caught in the port of Cagliari in an area where, among other things, diving and fishing are prohibited.

It was the Coast Guard that interrupted its activity today, issuing fines for 4 thousand euros, also seizing about 7 kilos of fish products, throwing them back into the sea as they are still alive.

The man was also accused of underwater fishing with a respirator, prohibited by national legislation, and his equipment was confiscated.

In recent days, a patrol boat of the Harbor office found and seized 85 pots without correct identification and reporting, illegally placed by anonymous in front of the Poetto beach, releasing the fish contained inside into the water.

At the same time, the Coast Guard of Cagliari is carrying out a continuous control activity towards traders and restaurateurs in order to protect the health of consumers against the marketing of fish products without the required and mandatory certification.
