The Carabinieri Forestali of Caprera have identified – in the Punta Villa area, in the territory of La Maddalena , within the protected Archipelago Park – an area subject to significant building and earthmoving works started without any type of authorization .
The military confirmed "excavation work on a slope with permanent modification of the slope profile, construction of a dirt road, filling of a small stream, numerous excavations filled with backfill material from construction work aimed at building a garage, as well as the construction of a perimeter wall in a drainage basin made of boulders with a length of approximately 10 meters and a height of 7".
The work carried out, therefore, "would have led to a permanent alteration not only to the landscape, but also to the hydrological regime, posing serious danger to the area and the homes below."
After the necessary investigations, the Forestry Carabinieri then proceeded to report an Italian citizen resident in La Maddalena to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Tempio Pausania, while the area – for a total of approximately 2000 square meters – was seized , as well as two excavators with an estimated value of approximately 100,000 (one hundred thousand euros).
