A 23-year-old man was arrested by the Iglesias Police on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

On Wednesday evening, officers from the local Police Station stopped him while he was in a car with another person. "Do you have drugs in the car?" they asked, suspicious of the strong smell of marijuana . And the 23-year-old, already known to the officers for previous drug-related offences, first handed over a package full of marijuana. Then, taking advantage of a moment of distraction, he fled, pursued on foot by one of the officers. After an exhausting chase through the streets of the city centre, he was stopped and secured.

The subsequent house search led to the discovery of a further 2.650 kg of marijuana, 44 g of cocaine, 12 g of cutting agent, as well as a precision electronic scale, packaging material, and 1,990 euros.

The 23-year-old was then arrested red-handed: the doors of Uta prison opened for him.
