Healthcare denied in Gallura, the unions denounce the disaster of the hospital system of the North East and attack the regional council. Cgil, Uil and Nursind are preparing to mobilize on Monday morning in front of the hospital in Olbia. At the Olbia headquarters of the Cgil, the union leaders Paolo Dettori, Jessica Cardia, Danilo Deiana, Vito Langiu and Achille Caddeo have pointed out the dramatic shortcomings of the Gallura territorial system, including the territorial one.

Minimum services are being discussed, especially for the weakest segments of the population. In Gallura there is a shortage of about 200 beds, the emergency facilities are collapsing. Jessica Cardia, secretary of Cgil Fp, described the unsustainable condition of the Emergency Department in Olbia which can no longer cope with the very high number of visits. The Emergency Departments are sinking because the users of territorial medicine, weakened by the shortages, are pouring into the facilities.

The trade unions denounced the violence and threats of exasperated patients against healthcare personnel. The trade union leaders Achille Caddeo and Vito Langiu (Nursind and Uil) recalled that the problems of the Gallura healthcare system are long-standing and pointed out that Mater Olbia has not filled the gaps in the territorial system.

The Cgil has denounced the condition of the Mental Health Service of Olbia: it has no more staff, there is only one specialist left who will leave in the next few days. The poor services in Gallura are having a heavy impact on the whole of Northern Sardinia.
