The injuries from the collision of his Smart with a minivan driven by an elderly man were too serious. The 40-year-old's condition immediately appeared desperate: he was pulled from the wreckage by firefighters and handed over to emergency medical services. He was intubated and rushed to Brotzu Hospital, where he never arrived. The other injured man, whose condition is not thought to be life-threatening, was transferred to the Policlinico Hospital.

The Carabinieri are carrying out the necessary planimetric and technical surveys to clarify the exact causes and dynamics of the tragedy, also managing traffic: the road was closed in both directions and then reopened.

The CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labour) denounces: "Salvatore Murru is a victim of his work: Sardinian roads are inadequate."
