The owner of a veranda with wood storage adjacent to his home in Ittiri was seriously injured and caught fire during the night.

The episode took place around midnight in via 1 ° Maggio. The fire affected a LPG cylinder and caused it to explode. The fire brigade intervened on the spot with two teams, the Alghero Soccorso ambulance and the carabinieri.

The victim, a 58-year-old surveyor from the Municipality, was awakened by a loud noise and for a moment thought of a car tire bursting. Then he realized it was a fire. He ran out into the courtyard and saw the tall flames devour his own wooden warehouse, located outside his home. In an attempt to put out the fire, he got second-degree burns on his face and hands.

When the flames reached a LPG cylinder causing it to explode, the residents poured onto the street, with great fear and the risk that the flames could spread to nearby homes.

The timely intervention of the Sassari firefighters made it possible to limit the fire to the veranda and the adjacent woodshed.
