New act of vandalism in the center of Oristano, where a 20-year-old offender resident in Marrubiu was denounced for the crime of aggravated damage.

The young man, on the night of 12 October last, broke a precious ceramic vase in Piazza Roma with a violent kick, a work created by the local ceramist Margherita Pilloni.

The damage was detected by a gardener early the next morning, who reported the fact by contacting 113.

Following the report, the joint work carried out by the staff of the Oristano Police Headquarters and the agents of the Local Police of the municipality, made it possible to identify the perpetrator of the crime, caught by the city video surveillance system. The young man was first immortalized as he headed towards the square and then as he walked away, in pain, due to the strong blow to the vase.

"The joint operation of the Police Headquarters and the local Police underlines the commitment of the institutions on the issue of urban security - observes the mayor Andrea Lutzu -. The Municipality of Oristano in recent years has invested considerable resources in the video surveillance system and the results confirm the goodness of a deliberate choice to protect citizens and protect public and private assets. The video surveillance system is giving excellent results, it allows to carry out an effective preventive action, but also, as in this case, to punish those responsible for stupid and serious acts of vandalism ".
