After three days of hospitalization in intensive care, at Santissima Annunziata, Paola Sanna's heart unfortunately stopped today. The young woman of 26 years, from Cagliari and resident in Sassari, is the victim of a terrible accident that occurred last Monday, shortly before 11 pm, on state road 291, near the Rudas roundabout.
The girl was returning to Sassari after a day spent on the beach in Alghero, but on the way home, aboard her mother's Toyota Yaris, she had a violent impact with the Honda Crv carrying a family from Naples that was traveling in the opposite direction. Five people were injured, but she was in desperate conditions. She was resuscitated three times by 118 staff, then rushed to the hospital in Sassari where doctors had to induce a pharmacological coma, while people on social media launched appeals for a blood drive in her name.
The hope of a recovery was hanging by a very thin thread. Passionate about sports, a triathlon athlete, studies at the Polytechnic of Turin and then in Cagliari, Paola Sanna is remembered by friends as a "sunny, extremely determined woman who has always faced challenges with great enthusiasm. A 10 and honors girl, cheerful and playful."

The accident occurred on Monday on state road 291, at Km1. Paola Sanna was returning home, in the direction of Sassari, while a family of tourists on vacation were taking the opposite route, towards Alghero. Someone invaded the wrong lane, going the wrong way, on a narrow slip road and, at that dark hour, which connects the four-lane road to the Rudas roundabout. The traffic police, who carried out the surveys, are trying to clarify the dynamics. The four Italian tourists who were traveling in a Honda Crv were also injured in the collision : husband, wife and their two minor children.
The family, the health management of the AOU of Sassari informs, in such a delicate and painful moment has decided to respect the girl's wishes, consenting to the donation of her organs.
