The Harry Potter Nights event which took place in Alghero last November sparked the lawyers of Warner Bros.
The law firm Mondini Bonora Ginevra, of Milan, sent a certified email to all the entities that played a role in the event, claiming the rights to use the trademark linked to the "Harry Potter" character. A cold shower for the organizers who, in any case, are ready to clarify every aspect.
Meanwhile, the presidents of the associations involved (Centro commercial enaturale and Alghenegra) relieve the Municipality of Alghero, the Alghero Foundation and the Region from any responsibility, «as these public bodies have only and kindly given external support to the event with the concession of public spaces and with the availability to reimburse part of the expenses incurred for the purchase of the materials used for the installations", they explain.
«We would like to clarify that the event was not for profit and the proposed activities were free. The cultural/playful initiative saw the collaboration of the city high schools for the creation of the displays and costumes and for the magic lessons, the participation of various local voluntary associations who offered their work with a single reimbursement of expenses and by making layout of the story of the little wizard with Caa language (Augmentative Alternative Communication) and with the sensory indicator legend for inclusive purposes. We are therefore calm about the positive outcome of the negotiations with Warner Bros' lawyers once the necessary clarifications have been provided", conclude the organizers.
