"Sardinia out of the grasshopper emergency within two years". The wave of optimism comes from the Region, the condition is only one: that the plan designed to deal with the emergency is implemented in the prescribed manner.

Today, in Cagliari , the Councilor for Agriculture Valeria Satta met the representatives of the associations involved, Coldiretti, Copratri, Cia and Confagricoltura, decidedly more cautious than the junta's forecasts: "The truth is that we are years behind schedule ". says Leonardo Salis of Coldiretti Nuoro-Ogliastra, «The Region should have plowed the land in autumn 2022 to eradicate the eggs, now we need to intervene with phytosanitary treatments on the entire surface. We have been given reassurances both on the fight in the field and on the resources for plowing in the autumn, but we expect to see the results in a month, when all the grasshoppers will fly ».

The first treatments began a month ago, immediately after hatching: an intervention which, according to councilor Satta, will guarantee a significant reduction in the infested area , which in 2022 reached 50 thousand hectares. But the significance, explains the director of Copagri Pietro Tandeddu, will only be evident in July: "We hope that the councilor is right to be optimistic".

A separate chapter is that of refreshments: "At the moment only those of 2020 are being liquidated", says Tandeddu. "It is necessary to speed up to cover the following years and give relief to the many affected farmers ".
