The country church of Nostra Signora del Monte in Rudalza was vandalized: the gate that guarded the place of worship was removed (and abandoned on the slope below), the altar outside was damaged, the video surveillance cameras were destroyed, and the signs indicating them were removed.

The mayor of Golfo Aranci, Giuseppe Fasolino, and the parish priest, Don Dario D'Angelo, reported the incident and publicly condemned the acts of vandalism, which have already occurred twice in the last few days.

"Acts like these reveal a divisive, rather than unifying, spirit. Investigations are underway to determine who is responsible."

In the background, issues related to the management of the church and the organization of the celebrations, which take place on the first Sunday in May.

"The church, and the land on which it stands, have always been looked after by the parish of San Giuseppe and the municipal administration through the local and Barracellare police forces. The festival has always been guaranteed with the help of volunteers, the Pro Loco, the Natural Shopping Center, and with the resources of the parish and municipal administration, which does not recognize new members without the agreement of the Municipality and parish," reads the joint statement.
