Giuseppe Sardu is the new president of the board of directors of Abbanoa: he was elected with 96.62% of the preferences of the shareholders' meeting (96.3% of those entitled to vote voted) today at the Teatro Doglio in Cagliari.

Sardu, 64 years old, originally from Cuglieri, transplanted to Pisa, a degree in information sciences and a long career as a public manager and also councilor, was for years president of the board of directors of Acque spa of Pisa, of the authority of the Lower Valdarno area.

Anna Maria Busia and Cristiano Camilleri are the two new members of the Board of Directors.

Busia, a lawyer from Nuoro, 61, former regional councilor and member of the regional secretariat of the Democratic Party, was the most voted, with 45.58 percent of the preferences. Camilleri, founder and vice president of the regional training agency ExFor, 56, obtained 29.37 of the preferences.

Michele Caria, who until the last minute, according to rumours, was in the running for the Council, with over 19 percent, and Chicco Porcu, who remained at 3 percent, also obtained votes .

The Board of Directors will replace the outgoing one composed of the president Franco Piga, and the re-nominated directors Salvatore Ledda and Daniela Sacco.

"The new governance of Abbanoa is born today. We promised it during the election campaign and we had already announced it during the first meetings in which we discussed the future of the main manager of the integrated water service of Sardinia", declares Alessandra Todde .

" Public water is a common good and we will oppose operations that attempt to privatize a good that belongs to everyone. Citizens have loudly asked for a total discontinuity with the past and the new governance will work in this direction alongside the administrations and the territories", continues the governor, underlining among the critical issues to be addressed "the issue of maintenance and strategic projects to improve the service".
