A strange game of fate wanted the two over one hundred year olds of the country to die within a few hours of each other.

After Margherita Oppo, who would have turned 102 on 7 December, Ghilarza also mourns the death of the lawyer Antonio Loi, ready to celebrate his 105th birthday on 12 December . The eldest of the community, he died in the house in via Alghero, surrounded by the affection of his wife Emma, his four children Francesco, Gianpaolo, Giorgio, Alessandro, his daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Originally from Ula Tirso, graduated in law, he was honorary vice-interpreter of Sorgono while from 1942 to 1945 he was mayor of Busachi and, in the post, at only 23 years old, he was the youngest in Italy .

This earned him the title of Knight of Labor. He was also an appreciated teacher first at the CAIP in Abbasanta and still a professor of French at the middle schools of the same center. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 11 in Ghilarza.
