Four horses killed mercilessly with gun shots. The barbaric episode happened a few days ago in the countryside of Ghilarza: an 83-year-old Angelo Oppo, a hauler and breeder in the town, now retired, was killed four older mares but of excellent value. An unspeakable gesture that caused very considerable damage to the pensioner.

The drama

The animals were grazing in the "Murarvu" locality, in a land near the provincial road that leads to the Ghilarzesi rural novenaries of San Michele, San Giovanni and San Serafino, an area where there are also other different farms. Taking into account that this is a very busy and populated area throughout the day, the criminals must have certainly acted in the middle of the night or at times where the presence of strangers could not be noticed anyway. The ugly discovery was made by Oppo himself who, after the first moments of dismay, immediately alerted the carabinieri of the Ghilarza company; the soldiers arrived on the spot together with the ASL veterinarians, in order to verify the situation and, unfortunately, they were able to ascertain the death of the poor animals. After all the necessary investigations, the owner was authorized to bury the animals in the same land where they were found dead.

The worry

The very serious fact obviously created great apprehension in the center of the Guilcier, considering that the owner of the horses has been retired for some time and takes care of the animals out of pure passion. Man is considered by everyone to be a quiet person and no one imagined he could become the target of such a gesture.

The environment

Oppo has always been well integrated into the world of horses especially at the Chilivani racecourse where he kept some specimens, which competed in flat races even with good results. If this fact is linked to the world of horses, the investigators will have to find out, who in any case play force will have to move 360 degrees to identify the perpetrators, of what is considered a real execution. Act that has greatly affected the community of Ghilarza for the manner in which it was carried out.

In this area, the last similar episode that is remembered was made six years ago against the then deputy mayor of Norbello, Giacomo Angioni. Unknown had entered the family business in the locality of "Frades Carta", close to the state road 131, killing one of the horses whose head was later cut off. Angioni on that occasion had ruled out that the serious gesture could have anything to do with his consultancy and analysis work in the agri-food sector, saying he was convinced instead that it was connected to his activity as an administrator.
