They remained silent before the investigating judge Giampiero Sanna, his sister Maria Grazia and his Brazilian friend Tiago Geissler Queiroz, accused of having embezzled, between 2020 and 2024, approximately 2 million euros intended for the valorization and conservation of the Sardinian coastal heritage .
At the validation hearing before Cagliari investigating judge Claudia Falchi Delitala, the three suspects, all placed under house arrest, chose to remain silent, exercising their right to remain silent.
The three are accused, to varying degrees, of criminal conspiracy, embezzlement, impersonation, forgery, and self-laundering.
According to the indictment, Sanna, former director of the Sardinian Coastal Conservation Agency, his sister, and her friend, with the help of three of Sanna's nephews (who are under investigation), allegedly embezzled significant funds intended for the development of the Sardinian coast. To do so, they used 13 fictitious nonprofit organizations, represented by various front men or completely unsuspecting individuals, from which they invoiced for projects and conferences, which in reality never materialized, to promote Sardinian culture, history, and the region. This included book series and documentaries, for which invoices were issued but which were never produced.
The investigation was triggered by a complaint from Maria Elena Dessì, the current director of the Agency, appointed by the Todde administration to replace Sanna , who was appointed by Christian Solinas's government. Sanna, who had held a senior position in the Ministry of Agriculture since August 2024, was suspended on the day of his arrest, November 13 .
