The Flumini sports field in Quartu has been declared unfit for use , leaving the San Giorgio team suddenly without a facility to complete the season. The facility is closing following a seismic vulnerability report filed, according to the municipal ordinance, much to the relief of the athletes, who are forced to seek space elsewhere, amidst countless difficulties, to play their final three home games of the third division championship.
"The news came like a bolt from the blue," explains president Gianfranco Piludu . "We've known about the impending renovations for some time, but we had agreed with the municipality to start in May so we could finish the championship , which has seven games remaining, three of them at home. Now we're going to Su Planu on Sunday, but the problem will arise on April 12th for the next home game. Where are we going? That's a difficult question to answer. We immediately started looking for an alternative , but the pitches are all occupied . There are no synthetic turf available, and if we don't find a pitch, they'll forfeit the game and fine us. We've been at this facility for 45 years. I founded it when there was nothing else."
