The "Bernardo De Muro" International Opera Competition, dedicated to the great tenor from Tempio Pausania, began a few days ago in Gallura. The competition, which runs until tomorrow, May 29, brings young talents from around the world to Porto Cervo and Tempio Pausania.

Over two hundred applications arrived from various countries, and eighty singers were selected for auditions that began on May 26th at the Conference Center in Porto Cervo. Auditions were held before a prestigious international jury, chaired by Sebastian Schwarz, head of the Teatro alla Scala singing companies. The grand finale is scheduled for May 29th at 7:00 PM at the Teatro del Carmine in Tempio Pausania, where the finalists' Gala Concert will be held and the winners will be announced.

The initiative, promoted by the Bernardo De Muro ETS Foundation as part of the Bernardo De Muro Festival, aims to transform Sardinia into an international hub for contemporary opera and the promotion of young performers. The jury includes artistic directors and casting managers from some of the most important European and international opera houses, from London to Berlin, Vienna to Dublin.

"In Sardinia, we are looking for new voices capable of conquering the world's great theaters," said Sebastian Schwarz, emphasizing the cultural value of the initiative and the high caliber of the participants. The competition offers prizes of up to eight thousand euros, as well as significant professional opportunities and the Critics' Award, organized in collaboration with the National Association of Music Critics.
