Interreligious dialogue, brotherhood. An ambitious goal: to create a United Nations of Religions. In memory of Demetrio Marco De Luca, a distinguished Christologist whose work has left an indelible mark on contemporary reflection on universal brotherhood, ever since the first World Meeting in 2013, held in Galtellì. Here, at the foot of the bronze Christ on Mount Tuttavista, De Luca himself commissioned the Path of Symbols of Religious Cultures, aiming to become a universal symbol of religions. A memorial service dedicated to the scholar will be held in Rome on Friday, December 12, at 3:45 PM, in the halls of Palazzo Giustiniani. The event will prepare for the second International Meeting scheduled for next year, also in Galtellì.
The initiative is supported by former MP Angelo Rojch, president of the "De Luca. We Are All Brothers" Institute, who will deliver institutional greetings along with the mayors of Nuoro and Galtellì, Emiliano Fenu and Franco Solinas, and the Vice President of the Region, Giuseppe Meloni. Speakers include Monsignor Gianfranco Saba, Ordinary of the Military. Guests include Pierferdinando Casini and Maurizio Gasparri, as well as Nuoro scholar Ciriaco Offeddu.
"The De Luca Memorial," says Angelo Rojch, "aims to be a moment of research and study of his cultural heritage, illuminated by the high human values of Christianity and all religious cultures, as well as his still-relevant proposals, which are the object of attention in a radically changed society."
