"Without urgent action, freight transport in Sardinia risks a complete standstill." This warning was raised by Gavino Guiso, transport delegate for Confapi Sardegna, during a joint meeting with Massimiliano Serra, president of the ASR Autotrasportatori Sardi Riuniti Association, Alberto Meloni, president of Confapi Cagliari, and Maurizio Longo of "TrasportoUnito" (via video link).

The request to the Government and the Region is clear: the establishment of two permanent working groups, one to address operational emergencies, such as ATP inspections, and one to address structural issues , starting with territorial continuity and the additional costs resulting from European environmental policies. Among the most pressing issues are the lack of facilities for ATP inspections, which risks disrupting refrigerated vehicles, and the limited space for trucks on ferries, especially in the summer, when passenger traffic is favored.

The impact of the new ETS (Emission Trading System) is also very heavy: " Loading a heavy vehicle today costs over 1,500 euros , with increases of up to 600 euros compared to 2024. A blow that companies cannot bear", denounced Guiso, Serra and Longo.

The Region's lack of decision-making autonomy in transportation matters is also under scrutiny. "Legislative powers and resources need to be transferred to meet the island's real needs," concludes Guiso, who, in the absence of a response from the institutions, does not rule out raising the stakes . "We will prefer symbolic and targeted actions to sensational protests, if necessary by slightly bending the law."
