Fires in Sardinia, 14 fires. Two emergencies: in La Maddalena and in Macomer

Still fires in Sardinia, with 14 episodes in the day today, on the regional territory. For two of these, the Forestry Corps used air vehicles in addition to ground crews.

The emergencies were recorded in La Maddalena , in the locality of “S. Trinità ”, with fire extinguishing operations coordinated by the staff of the Forestry Corps Station of La Maddalena, with the helicopter coming from the CFVA base in Limbara. A team from the La Maddalena barracellar Company, a team from the La Maddalena fire brigade and one of volunteers from the La Maddalena AVPC associations intervened. The stake covered an area of about 2,000 square meters of Mediterranean scrub.

In Macomer , in the “Campeda station” area, the intervention was coordinated by the staff of the Macomer Forestry Corps station, with the helicopter coming from the CFVA base in Bosa Santa Maria. The fire developed in an area intended for grazing.

But today the ground crews and air vehicles were also engaged to extinguish further active re-ignition flames and to reclaim the areas that were hit by the fires yesterday .

In Mandas , in the locality of Santa Barbara, the staff of the Senorbì Forestry Corps Station intervened, with helicopters coming from the CFVA bases of Villasalto, Sorgono and San Cosimo. The fire covered an area of about 400 hectares, of which about 120 were wooded. The extinguishing of the active flames was completed in the morning. While the land reclamation continues on the perimeter of the area crossed by the fire.

In Villamassargia , locality "Efisio Marces-S'Ega de Coremò", the shutdown was coordinated by the staff of the Forestry Corps of Carbonia and Siliqua, with the personnel on board the helicopters coming from the CFVA bases of Marganai, Pula and Fenosu (SuperPuma heavy helicopter) and 1 Canadair. 3 teams from the Forestas Agency from the Fluminimaggiore, Santadi and Nuxis shipyards and 4 teams of volunteers from the associations of Siliqua, Villamassargia, Terraseo Narcao took part. The fire covered an area of about 50 hectares of forest (30) and uncultivated (20). The extinguishing operations ended in the early afternoon.

Finally, for the Portuscuso fire, in the “Paringianu” locality, the extinguishing was coordinated by the staff of the Forestry Corps of Sant'Antioco and Fluminimaggiore, assisted by the personnel on board the helicopter coming from the Pula base. Two teams from the Carbonia firefighters and 4 teams of volunteers from the associations of Gonnesa, Carbonia and Sant'Antioco took part.

The flames covered an area of about 100 hectares of Mediterranean scrub and uncultivated. The extinguishing operations ended at 10 this morning.
