Fires at construction sites and garbage trucks in the protected area: uncivilized people in paradise on Asinara.

Uncivilized in paradise. Workers working on a construction site had littered the area with waste and had even lit fires to clear some of it. A garbage truck, however, entered the fully secured area and got stuck: the ground was ravaged by the driver's attempts to escape the swamp.
The illegal activities were discovered by the Carabinieri in Asinara, a park where control and monitoring activities do not stop even during the winter season.
In particular, the military, during the checks carried out in recent weeks to protect one of the most precious natural heritages of the Mediterranean, contested multiple violations of the Park Regulations: behaviors that could have compromised an ecosystem
fragile and therefore strictly protected.
The first inspection was carried out at a construction site in Tumbarino. The Carabinieri discovered the illegal lighting of fires, presumably to burn waste, carried out in the complete absence of the necessary procedures.
Permits. A practice defined as "dangerous in an island context characterized by a particularly sensitive ecosystem." In the same area, the abandonment of waste, including nets, plastic, and glass bottles, has also been documented.
For this type of violation, fines can reach €1,000, in addition to the obligation to restore the environment and the power of the Park Director to suspend or revoke permits to operate on the island.
The second operation conducted by the military involved a garbage truck: it was determined that the compactor had entered Zone "A" of the Marine Protected Area, the highest level of protection, without authorization . Furthermore, due to recent rains, the vehicle also became stuck in that very area, further aggravating the environmental impact with maneuvers and removal attempts that altered those pristine areas and potentially caused damage to protected species and habitats.
The penalties are the same: a fine and the possibility of being banned from the park.
