Fires in Aritzo and Calangianus: houses threatened by flames. In the Sassari area there is a "re-ignition" alarm
More super work for teams on the ground and aerial vehicles. Numerous interventions also to tame the outbreaks in the areas already affected by the fires in recent daysAugust begins with another field day for the firefighting teams, called to put out 12 fires that broke out in a few hours and, at the same time, to complete the extinguishing operations of those that broke out in the previous days.
In eight locations the intervention of air vehicles, both from the regional and national fleet, was also necessary.
One of the most challenging fronts was that in the Aritzo area, where a fire devastated the Sa Casa pass and the wooded area in Genna de Mandara. In action, in addition to the ground teams, also two helicopters, a SuperPuma and two Canadair.
Men and aircraft were also involved in the Riu lu Fungone area , between Calangianus and Luras , with operations complicated by the inaccessible area and the lack of roads . The overflight of helicopters and Canadair for the release of water is therefore fundamental. Several teams of firefighters, who intervened together with the Forestry Corps, Forestas workers and volunteers, are also patrolling the outskirts of the town, threatened by the spread of the flames ( VIDEO ).
Intervention both from the ground and from the air also in the countryside south of the town of Flussio . This is for “new” fires. As mentioned , the battle against fire continued even in the areas already hit by fires in recent days, due to some "rekindlings" of the outbreaks.
Ground teams and air vehicles intervened in particular in the Nuoro area, in the Sa'e Grosta area , where the first flames broke out on 28 July. And then to Pozzomaggiore , for the extinguishing of «repeated re-ignitions» and for the reclamation in the Funtana sa teula area. The same is true in other places in the Sassari area, such as Bonorva, Bottidda and Nulvi.
An emergency that is devastating the island and which seems to never end.
