Police tapes have just surfaced at Punta Molentis, the very spot where the terrifying fire broke out in late July, destroying dozens of cars and hectares of Mediterranean scrub. According to initial reports, the Forestry Corps investigators will conduct surveys and collect samples useful for the investigation.

Investigators are maintaining the utmost secrecy: the case was opened by prosecutor Andrea Vacca for arson, but for the moment it has not yet been possible to rule out any hypothesis, given the extreme weather conditions that day.

With the area where the fire originated sealed off, new investigations are fully ruling out the possibility that the flames were started by accidental sparks from passing vehicles. Several witnesses were also interviewed. The prosecutor's office is also investigating the safety conditions of the parking lot, where fortunately, in addition to the extensive damage to vehicles and the landscape, no casualties were reported.
