A swift investigation by the Oristano Police Headquarters has led to the identification of the person responsible for the fire at the former Mossa institute on August 15th .
The fire broke out in the early afternoon of August 15th, in a deserted city. An entire floor was devastated . Firefighters immediately determined the blaze was started deliberately, and the Flying Squad, led by Deputy Police Commissioner Samuele Cabizzosu, immediately launched an investigation.
Forensic investigators had conducted thorough investigations and found several fingerprints near the printer , as well as one immediately noted on the entrance door: the mark of a sneaker that later matched the former student's shoes perfectly . Analysis of municipal video surveillance footage , in collaboration with the local police, was also crucial. The footage allowed them to reconstruct the movements of the minor, who had been stopped by a patrol car in Piazzetta Corrias shortly before the fire. A routine check that, perhaps in the boy's mind, could have been a perfect alibi . Unfortunately, however, the numerous cameras in the center captured the sequence of those moments: from when the boy, riding a scooter, moved from the center to Piazza del Tribunale, where he left his vehicle. Then straight to the school entrance, passing through the open gate . The rest was precisely reconstructed by investigators: the fire set to the printer, then the escape. Not only that, but the boy, still alone, had also gone back to check on the flames before firefighters arrived. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
The breakthrough in the investigation has also reverberated within the school. "We know the boy; he's had plenty of problems at school in the past, and we 've done everything we could to help him with remedial activities, but if there's no will to change, it becomes impossible, " Principal Bruno Sanna commented bitterly. "It was a very serious act against the school. I confirm that we will file a civil action and seek damages ."
