Few flights, at inconvenient times, at ever higher prices.

" Territorial continuity no longer exists ," the commuters burst out, forced to travel on the Cagliari-Milan axis. But the same goes for connections with Rome.

With the start of the winter aviation season, Sardinia has dropped off the radar of almost all airlines . The tender launched by the Region after the usual tug of war with the European Commission provides for a clear cut in frequencies compared to previous years.

Only two flights a day between Olbia and Milan, two between Alghero and Rome, four between Cagliari and Linate. But the timetables often don't allow you to schedule a return trip on the same day. Those who leave Milan to reach Sardinia and have a business appointment are forced to take the 7.20 flight from Italy. The next one, again guaranteed by the state airline, is at 17.35, then at 18.55 Volotea's plane and finally, at 21.50, Ita's again. No connection in the central bands of the day. The most comfortable ones.

Not to mention the prices. In the days close to the Christmas holidays, chaos is already foreseen. Tickets are scarce. Ita offers a Linate-Cagliari ticket for 512 euros , with one stopover. The same company sells a Rome-New York flight for 226 euros. Sounds like a joke, but it's all real.

Tomorrow the deepening on the Sardinian Union on newsstands.
