Bitter and painful awakening this morning for the communities of Desulo and Tonara who mourn the loss of Mariano Peddio, 52 years old and a physical education teacher, who died last night at the Santissima Annunziata in Sassari after a fatal fall from the balcony . Peddio, from Desulo but now adopted by the community of Tonara, fell a few meters after falling from a ladder that was on the balcony of his home, in the Teliseri neighborhood : he had climbed up to feed a cat, then suddenly the support gave way.
The rush to the hospital aboard the emergency helicopter was useless and the injuries he sustained were too serious: Peddio died around 7 pm. On social media, the mayor of Desulo, Giovanni Melis , shared a touching memory of his childhood friend: «There are too many memories that tie me to you and to my childhood in Asuai . You left us with a smile on your face, your reflections, your attention to physical and mental well-being. The same with weights in the gym, the same in life». Then the thoughts of the mayor go to «Giuanni, your father», who is «up there». «Today Asuai, Desulo and Tonara are experiencing a very sad day. The next few days will be too. We are close to Alessia, with whom you were bursting with happiness. Close to your family, in this damned drama that has no end. But we will not reduce it to pain alone: we will have the strength to always remember you with a smile for what you gave us: the positive side of things. Au revoir Instructor!», he concludes. Words of sorrow also from the mayor of Tonara, Cristina Patta , who defined him «a friend who we loved very much».
Deep condolences also in the Tonara Calcio club, where Mariano was a constant and passionate presence: «Still incredulous for your passing, we join in the pain of Alessia and your entire family. Have a good trip, Mariano».
