It was authorized to sell only local products, but the shelves contained everything. For this reason, the NAS Carabinieri of Cagliari fined a cooperative—the fine was paid by its president—based just outside Pula.
During the inspection, the military seized approximately 400 kilos of food products with a total value of approximately €15,000. They found that the cooperative, despite being authorized exclusively to sell locally grown fruit and vegetables, had expanded its operations to include food from organized retailers, in violation of the regulations governing direct sales by farmers.
Further investigations also revealed the presence on the shelves of numerous food and non-food products (including liqueurs, honey, jams, vinegar, milk, sugar, pasta, bottarga, dairy products, baked goods, and detergents) , in violation of the authorizations granted and the regulations governing the retail trade of "zero kilometer" agricultural products.
