False advert for car insurance, a thirty-year-old from Cagliari defrauded
The offer seemed to be made by a well-known company, but a sixty-five-year-old from Crotone was behind the scam

He thought he had found the easy deal on insurance online: he fell victim to a scam.
The investigations by the Pirri police began with the complaint of a thirty-year-old from Cagliari, a public employee, which led to the complaint of aggravated fraud against a sixty-five-year-old from Crotone, already the protagonist of similar scams.
Last April the victim had searched online for a convenient offer to insure his car. The best advert seemed to be from a well-known company and, reassured by the brand, the thirty-year-old paid 594 euros to the PostePay indicated in the advert. But after the payment nothing happened. So the man became suspicious and asked the company for information. Hence the discovery: the advertisement and the account were not covered by the insurance.
All that remained was to report. And today the person responsible has been identified, thanks also to the contribution of the Crotone police.
