Taxis are scarce. Anyone who decides to go by car cannot find parking: the parking spaces are full from early in the morning. And there are no buses. The only alternative for those who have to take off from Elmas airport is to rely on trains. Everyone stops at Mario Mameli. And this is the good news, even if limited, given that the trips do not cover the entire arrival and departure time. The bad things start when you get off the convoy and want to reach the airport.

The journalist and writer Giovanni Follesa, who was leaving this morning and decided to take the train from Cagliari to Elmas, recounts a long series of disruptions. Also because he had no alternatives.

«You can't find a taxi to the airport in the city. There is no dedicated public transport, bus or coach, for those who have to fly. But weren't we a tourist town? So what do we do?», asks Follesa. «A little patience and the CTM will transport you to the station, where, however, there is no platform 9 and 3/4. So no magic." Harry Potter is not at home in Cagliari.

«To get to the airport, just take any train, everyone stops at the airport, they say at the ticket office. You arrive in Elmas, get off. You would like to take the moving belt, more convenient if you have a suitcase. But it's not possible. The first section is closed." There is a tape blocking access in the first section. The second one works, but now most of it is done. Continue on foot.

Here is the departure gate, on the first floor. Problem: The escalators don't work. « On the right, next to it, the elevator. You approach ready to press the button, a sign dispels the enthusiasm: out of service" . And you have to use the stairs, the normal ones. With suitcases in tow. And peace if a passenger, or someone dying, has walking problems: there are no alternatives, not even in this case.
