The mayor of Elmas Maria Laura Orrù has appointed two new members of the municipal council. The decision comes after the recent resignations of two councilors of the Democratic Party, who left their positions in the Municipality. The choice of the mayor of Masese fell on Andrea Murgia and Giuseppe Perria. The first, a graduate of the three-year course and still a young student of Architecture, "motivated and passionate about the social life of the community", was entrusted with the delegation of Councilor for Productive Activities, Digital Transition and Youth Policies. The second, instead, "a health professional with significant cultural depth and considerable experience", will lead the Department of Culture, Entertainment and Education.
Mayor Orrù emphasized the importance of valuing young people and their educational path, declaring that "I firmly believe that young people are the future of our territory. It is essential to invest in a new ruling class that can bring fresh and innovative ideas. With Andrea Murgia, we will give voice to the new generations and actively involve them in the decision-making process". At the same time, the presence of Giuseppe Perria "will guarantee valuable support thanks to his experience. The union of youthful enthusiasm and wisdom is the key to facing future challenges", added Orrù.
The new councilors will take office immediately, helping to strengthen the administration's commitment to the well-being of citizens and the development of the territory. The mayor thanked the two resigning councilors for their work and enthusiastically welcomed the new members, expressing confidence in their ability to face future challenges and continue on the path of growth and innovation. In the redefinition of the new delegations, the mayor will keep for himself, in addition to Participation and strategic planning, also Urban Planning. While the councilor and deputy mayor Alessandra Nurchi will be joined by maintenance and the local police, Councilor Cucca by equal opportunities and Councilor Kappler by Heritage.
As underlined by the mayor, «the Democratic Party will continue to give its contribution to the administrative activity, but it preferred not to have operational roles in the Council. I worked to build a path of political unity and shared commitment, trying to overcome the internal critical issues raised by the PD exponents. It was proposed to sign a unitary document for the end of the mandate and relaunch for the next council, reintegrating into the council the members that the Elmas PD wanted to propose. However, the Party decided not to directly engage in the Council, while sharing the document and declaring that it would ensure support within the majority».
